Summer Training Program (May 30th - Aug 27th)

Our Summer Training Program begins on May 30th and runs through to August 27th (13 weeks.)
Weather permitting our Open Water swim (evening) program will start early May. Stay tuned as we get closer and know what the lake tempratures are like.

Complete Summer Program

New for 2017 is our "Complete Summer Program" option. Much like the "Hard Core" option offered in the Winter and Spring this program gives you access to many of the group sessions through the Summer. See note below for restrictions. 

Monday: Brick (Bike/Run) Workouts (Various Locations)
Tuesday: Open Water Swim 6:30-7:30pm (Thetis Lake) 
Wednesday: Track/Hill Run Sessions (Various Locations)
Thursday: Open Water Swim 6:30-7:30pm (Thetis Lake)
Saturday: Group Ride (optional run after)
Sunday: Open Water Swim 9-10:00am (Elk Lake) & Run 10:30-11:30 onward

Cost: $180.00 plus tax (Tristars Members) $215.00 plus tax (Non Members)

Not Included: Summer Pool Swim (if available) & Summer Trail Run Program


Open Water Swimming 2017

Our open water swim sessions are safe, informative and a lot of fun. Our experienced coaches (Brian MacArthur and Kylie Acford) will be working on improving your open water swim form and technique each and every session. We will work on race strategies such as exits, entrances, mass starts, sighting, drafting and more. The goal of our Open Water Swim Program is to ensure you are comfortable in a lake swim environment, swimming in your wetsuit as well as improving your open water swimming skills. With Brian and Kylie coaching you know that these will be valuable sessions! 

Groups from beginners (first time in a wetsuit) to seasoned swimmers. 

  • Experienced Coaching and Instruction
  • All athletes receive a bright green swim cap (mandatory)
  • In water group leaders as well as coaches in kayaks
  • Safety sign in/out sheets

Summer Run Program

Join us for some great run workouts all Summer.  We'll meet at different soft surface running tracks and on a variety of hills around Victoria and the Peninsula. Locations will be posted onto our Training Calendar in advance. The focus will be on improving speed and efficiency and building overall running strength. Track/Hills on Wednesday nights and group long run on Sunday mornings.  Workouts will begin with a light warm up and/or drills, followed by your workout. Workouts will be progressive so those doing late season races will benefit greatly from these sessions. 

Wed: Track/Hill Sessions from 6:30-7:30pm
Sunday: Group Long Run at 10:30am starting from Hamsterly Beach.
Drop In: $5.00 per session
NOTE: Running routes and distances will vary and are adaptable for all.

Monday Night Bricks

After a fun Summer of Brick Sessions in 2016 we are thrilled to offer Brick Sessions again in 2017. These cycling focused sessions will feature a variety of challenging rides such as hill repeats, race pace efforts and sprints. Each session will be followed up by a short run. Or multiple short run intervals. Every session is adaptable for ALL levels of rider so beginners are more than welcome. Everyone will benefit from these sessions. Brick training is a huge part of triathlon training and shouldn't be missed. Locations will vary from week to week as will the training sessions.

Summer Trail Run Program

Spend your Summer exploring the incredible local trail systems. 
Ideal program for anyone training for the Finlayson Arm 28k or 50kms.
Wednesday night we'll hit the hills for progressive hill training.
Sunday mornings is our long trail run. Runs start about 2 hours in length but will increase to 4+ hours by the end of the program. 

When: June 28th - Sept 4th
Wed: Hill Repeats (6:30-7:30pm)
Sunday: Long Trail Runs (2-4 hours)

Cost: $130 + tax

Early Morning Swims

Join Coach Brian MacArthur for a wake up to your day swim. 
Where: Esquimalt Rec Center
Dates: May 20th to Aug 27thth
Mon/Wed/Fri: 6-7:30am
Cost: $200 plus tax for 3 days a week
Cost: $145 plus tax for 2 days per week.
Drop In: $10 per session
